“Crux” is no exception–nevertheless, I am aware of certain clear cut meanings in the woodcuts, around which the other more elusive ideas may revolve, just as the planets around the sun. No less than all of mankind is the crux of my concern. Man in a technicological age is part airplane, part environment, part all too vulnerable anatomy. His nerves and bones are fragmented and interspersed with mechanical form. He is disassociated from his fellows who can scarcely be distinguished from the spare architecture which engulfs them.

Yet, suffering, man seems to endure.
