Bill Dallas, born in Kansas City, Missouri, grew up surrounded by Kansas City Blues and Jazz. After he moved to Berkeley, he discovered an innate talent and love for painting. That love for painting merges and blends with his love for music in his Artmatism–painting music. He aims to find colors that will evoke the viewer and takes them on a long journey of enchantment. He has a unique two-handed, brush-less style of painting that shows a love of gesture, and above all, of the paint itself. Dallas considers himself to be a true abstract painter which he describes as being in a constant state of enlightenment. But he eschews the intellectualism of much of modern painting. As he puts it, he wants his paintings to work on your imagination, to insinuate memories of waves of water pouring into the cove below or walking through a fantasy forest that vibrates with hints of imagery.
This work is double-sided with a cool liquidy painting on one side and a warm energy on the other. It has been cradled in matboard designed to avoid damage to the paint and framed with glass on both sides. The solid Walnut frame is designed to be hung with wire affixed to the edges of the frame so that the picture can be hung with either side visible. All conservation-grade materials and 99% UV-blocking art glass.
