Fleeing the Nazis, Curt Valentin arrived in New York in 1937 with enough modern German art to open an American office of Buchholz Gallery, where he had worked in Hamburg. Widely respected as one of the most astute dealers in modern art, Valentin organized influential exhibitions and attracted major artists to his Gallery. In 1951, the gallery became the Curt Valentin Gallery. At that time, Valentin published the Dreams and Projects portfolio of works by his close friend Jean Arp.
The portfolio, printed by Fequet et Baudier in Paris, contained 28 beautiful and evocative woodcut prints.
The first twenty-five copies of the portfolio contained an additional set of the prints, printed on rich Japan paper.
This woodcut print is available either on the white wove paper from the regular edition or on the Japan paper from the special set of 25.
Custom-framed in black-stained Ash behind 99% UV-filtering Plexiglass. All conservation materials. Please note that this work was reframed after photographing. It was put in a larger frame to create a wider bottom margin to better present the picture.
