About the work
Washingtonian Ruth Becker is most famous for her exquisite papercut ketubot. This work is a rare departure from her; a finely-made papercut work with a prayer for a home. Pirkei Avot, a tractate from the Talmud (collected teachings of the ancient rabbis), focuses on the way that the great sages lived their lives and the moral lessons that they can teach us. Here, Becker has selected the fourth lesson of the first part of Pirkei Avot.
