Sometimes being the master of the house has its perks. And yet it is difficult not to get the feeling that as soon as this caravan stops the master of the house will feel like the master of nothing. This is a leading example of Alfred Bendiner’s whimsical (and usually sardonic) caricatures, with examples held by the National Gallery of Art (Accession Number 1980.45.132) and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Accession No. 1941-91-8).
