Victor Vasarely was the father of “Op Art”—making images that we could easily create today with computers but that in the middle parts of the Twentieth Century required a magical combination of mathematical and creative genius to create.
This work, Koska-Mez, highlights Vasarely’s facility with color and with shapes and movement. It is an exemplar of op art.
After the 1972 acrylic on canvas of the same name (see Editions de Griffon, Vasarely III, Neuchâtel 1974, p. 83).
Published by Denise Rene Editeur. Rene was a French gallerist who was the godmother of geometric abstraction and kinetic art. She presented the first solo exhibition of Piet Mondrian in Paris and put together shows for the luminaries of modern art in the 1950s through 1970s.
Custom framed using strictly conservation-grade materials in a solid quartersawn white oak frame behind 99% UV-blocking art glass.
