Custom framed in a wood burl frame using strictly conservation-grade materials. With a double silk-wrapped mat behind 99% UV-blocking art glass.
It is not clear whether this example is part of a known edition. August Klipstein’s standard reference on Kollwitz’s work identities seven states. The first five are essentially proofs. The sixth state was issued in an edition of 120 and an edition of 30, in both cases numbered and signed (neither of which are present here). This may be a proof outside of the sixth edition. And this is not the seventh state, which was published with the publisher’s blindstamp, not found on this example. This may be a proof taken around the time of the 1947 edition.
