Painter, printmaker, and educator Jak Gene Kovatch was an artist of immense imagination. Crowds of people, ships sailing, two suns in the sky. Spaces Revisited is a work of imagination and technical prowess. Kovatch also was clearly never satisfied. A print was rarely finished; few artists wrote “State Proof” so frequently. (A state proof designates the print as a working proof and as being further worked on after the edition was created. It reflects the printmaker as continuing to tinker and explore even as the print has reached a point of completion.) This etching is custom framed in a solid Maple frame behind 99% UV-blocking art glass using strictly conservation-grade materials.
