About the work

Mindy Weisel has been a working artist for five decades, during which she has forged an enduring place in art history.

She began painting at the age of 14 in order to find her own voice. As the only daughter of Auschwitz survivors, she had been able to put her feelings and experiences, both past and present, into her work.

She is involved in the process of creating light out of darkness which she had achieved with her paintings that are beautifully crafted and emotionally evocative.

Weisel has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in both Germany and the U.S., including a 2013 show at the Kreeger Museum in Washington DC. Her work is permanently displayed at several American museums, including the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of American Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum. Her work can also be seen at the United States Embassy in Berlin and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

This work is one of very few early works by Mindy Weisel available in the marketplace.
