Jeanne Garant works across a broad range of media, equally skilled in painting, collage, silkscreen, woodcut, monoprint, graphite, text, mark making, and assemblage, but her work is unified by a neutral palette offset with varied texture, layers, or patterns. She is plainly a minimalist but equally plainly she avoids austerity.
Garant studied at Rivier College in her home town of Nashua before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 from George Mason University. She also studied at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia, and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington.
Garant’s work has been exhibited widely at venues including the National Collage Society in Cleveland, the Sharon Arts Center in New Hampshire; Printmakers Exchange Exhibit in Belfast and Dublin; the National Institutes of Health, and the Art Expo in New York City. She also exhibited frequently at Touchstone Gallery in the District of Columbia.
Her work is found in numerous corporate and private collections including the State Department Art in Embassies program and consulates in Italy, Slovenia, Africa, France, Belgium, and China.
