About the work
This plate is part of Plate XII-2b of Josef Alber’s famous study of color, Interaction of Color. Albers created Interaction of Color to explore how colors and shapes interact with other colors and shapes. This particular plate along with its other half are presented to prove the Bezold Effect. This picture was separated from its mate by its former owner, a university, but it stands up beautifully on its own, as a color study, an attractive image, and as part of one of the most important developments in the study of art theory.
