Seymour Chwast—a design legend—co-founded Push Pin Studios, where he led a revolution in graphic design in the 1960s and ’70s, producing bold, vibrant work that pushed the limits of nearly every visual medium. In 1987, Chwast partnered with Mohawk Paper Mills to create a campaign to introduce Mohawk’s new Nuance and Ultrafelt paper lines by reprinting 15 posters that Chwast designed in the 1970s and 80s.
This work, called “Writer’s Guide”, from that collection, was previously created in 1981 for the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
Beautifully float-framed on acid-free matboard behind Plexiglass in a black-painted poplar frame. Conservation framing by one of Washington’s most prominent framers.
Please note that the photographs are marred by reflections; the ink is actually smooth and bright. The final image is a stock photo of the work.
