This expressive portrait of Lincoln is a trial proof, preceding the edition of 20 and a second edition of 40, both printed by the artist himself on fine Mulberry paper. The work was commissioned by the Delphan Company for the frontispiece of its book Abraham Lincoln, the third volume of The Image of America series, published by Tyrex in 1960. Framed in a black-painted wood frame behind 99% UV-blocking art glass using strictly conservation-grade materials.
