About the work
This work is part of Battenfield’s Passing Breeze series in which she aimed to capture an arrested moment through the painterly tension which is created between the deep space of an intensely-colored field, the floating marks of expressive materials imbedded in the sheet (such as bamboo leaves, horsehair, and gold leaf slivers), and the hard edge of the cut paper. The three panels are 10 in. (h) x 31.5 in. (w). The three panels are mounted on a fine sheet of very heavy, textured paper, perhaps using a Chine-Collé technique, which is 25 in. (h) x 42 in. (w).
Beautifully float-framed so that it floats both above the cloth-covered support and under the glass. Glazed with UV-blocking and reflection-free Museum Glass. Frame size is 27.5 in. (h) x 47.5 in (w).
