This work was printed from two plates in 1978-80. This is one of more than a dozen prints in Stratton’s “Phoenix” series, which celebrates Stratton’s love of birds, trees, and the sun. Unlike this work, most of the Phoenix works are quite small. Stratton reworked the plates repeatedly; it was not until the eighth state that she considered the work completed. She printed the work in an edition of 15 plus three proofs (along with a few proofs from the first and second states). Custom matted and framed behind 99% UV-blocking art glass using strictly conservation-grade materials.
